fitbit hr wont sync with app

Hi the fitbit hr my daughter has, has never synced with the app. Her phone is huawei p20 lite and we have followed the trouble shooting within the settings for this model of phone. An issue with the app is when trying to contact for help, it is prompting to verify user via email (although it is already verified). The app is also ready and prompted to sync with fitbit but fitbit has never responded further than the diamond on the screen. It is fully charged and has been turned on and off and reset. Smile face comes on for a split second when reset but returns to diamond and fitbit.com/set up.

Please help, My daughter saved up for this and needs it now more than ever.

Hi, @Milzer , it can be a bit tricky getting your daughter’s Fitbit to sync with that particular phone, but it should work if you persist.  Have you followed these instructions?

  1. On your phone, open the Settings app > Apps and notifications > Apps.
  2. Tap Fitbit > Battery.
  3. Turn off the Power-intensive prompt option.
  4. Tap Launch.
  5. Turn off the Manage automatically option, and turn on the Auto-launch, Secondary launch, and Run in background options.
  6. Tap OK.

Note that you may see a message on your phone related to power consumption and apps scanning in the background. If you follow the steps in this message, the Fitbit app can’t run in the background and certain features may not work properly. Repeat the steps above to enable the Fitbit app to run in the background.

I hope this helps.  Welcome to the forums!

Apparently if it does not work Fitbit suggests repeating those steps.

Ok I’ll try later when I have the time. In the meantime, is there another
model inc heart rate that suits better?

I have this issue too, but use an iPhone XR.  I have used this same fitbit and same phone since at least September.  I have not changed my settings by every time I open the app on my phone it has all my data at 0 for the day and reloads /resyncs very slowly.   It is not syncing all day.  I have done everything that prior posts suggest.

@Cloe284 , my suggestion was specific for someone using the Huawei 20 lite.

For your issue I would suggest setting up your Fitbit as a replacement device.  Please do NOT remove your Fitbit from your account first, as that can cause many problems.  You will not lose any data by doing this.

Here are the instructions to set up your Fitbit as a replacement:

On your Fitbit app go to the account section (you will find that by clicking on your personal photo icon top left)

On the account page scroll to + Set up a new device.  From the drop down list choose whichever Fitbit you have (Inspire HR?). You will see a message that says: “You already have (this Fitbit) on your account.  Would you like to replace it?”

Choose “Yes” and follow the instructions.

Doing this can often re establish the link between the Fitbit and your account, and may fix the syncing issue.  Please let us know if this works for you.

I've got a iPhone 6s and my Inspire HR will not sync. It last sync'd in March. I've tried to reconnect it but it will not connect with Blluetooth. I've done all the re-establishing steps and even went as you mentioned in the latest response, to set up the Fitbit as a replacement. Right now it's "conencting to Tracker" -- and has been for the past 20 minutes. I tried to set its Bluetooth connection up in the Settings area but it refuses to connect. I don't know what else to do.

Hi, @PatGLex, you definitely can’t set it up or connect it in the Bluetooth settings area, so the first thing you should do is go to your phone’s Bluetooth settings and if you see your Inspire HR in the list there choose “forget this device”, as that may be interfering with setting it up as a replacement.  (Do NOT delete the Inspire HR from your Fitbit app!)

Once it is removed from your phone’s bluetooth settings, I would suggest you go back to the Fitbit app and try again to follow the procedure to set it up as a replacement device.  Make sure if you have any other Fitbits they are out of bluetooth range of your phone as well.

Thanks!!!! I removed the device from my Bluetooth setting, and then
proceeded with closing and opening the app -- and it looks to be working!
Thanks.
