So you want Screen Wake disabled, but you don't want to push the button, right?

 

Sounds like you want screen wake semi-disabled.

Tapping the screen seems to work for me, but I always want 'Screen Wake' on.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
