inspire 2 buttons don't work after a run

I set my inspire 2 to exercise, run and complete my run. When I am finished running the buttons are unresponsive. This prevents me from exiting the run exercise. It seems to have to do with being sweaty. If I wait until I'm not sweating heavily AND dry my fingers, the buttons will work. 

This is irritating because this adds about 10 minutes to my run and ruins my pace per mile tracking.

Any ideas?
