inspire hr won't take a charge

I have a fitbit inspire hr brand new out of box. I charged it over night using a usb cable.  That did nothing. Then I charged 24 hours with a 5volt charger.

When I try to update the firmware it says the battery doesn't have enough charge. When I try to turn it on with the switch it lights up but will not display the options available.

Any suggestions.

I tried to reset the device.  After holding the button I get the first screen with the dots and "www.fitbit.com/setup" crawling across the screen.

back to the usb port. reset device. got the smiley face, 94% charged.  That's all I can get out of it.
