Why Fitbit versa lite shows incorrect step counts? I sit all day in the office and my versa lite shows I have covered 10000 step counts. I hardly get to walk so much. The step count keeps increasing even when I am seated.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @7Shankar.
I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing your concern about your Fitbit Versa Lite accurately tracking your steps. Thank you for providing the additional details.
Your device is a motion sensor on your wrist and it may count some steps when you're working at a desk or performing other activities with arm movements, however it shouldn't be significant when compared to your overall stats. I recommend changing the wrist setting in the Fitbit app to "Dominant", it decreases the sensitivity of step counting and should reduce any over counting of steps when your body is not moving. You can change your wrist setting in the Fitbit app. For more information, please see Does the wrist I wear my device on affect accuracy?
You can remove the extra steps from your daily total by following the instructions in this help article: How do I delete steps and floors in the Fitbit app? For more information about the accuracy of the Fitbit devices, please see here.
Upon checking with our Support team, I was told that you have already contacted them. I know they will be glad to help you out and provide a solution, please keep working with them.
If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.

As someone else mentioned, in a thread I can’t find now, my Fitbit counts steps while I am using my mobility scooter. At least 5000 every day. I do not pump my arm while steering the thing.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @MAD13.
Thank you for joining the thread and sharing that your device counts at least 5000 steps every day while you're using your mobility scooter. I understand that you don't pump your arm, however due to the movement of your scooter your Fitbit may count extra steps. For more information, please see this help article: Will my device pick up steps when I’m in the car or riding in a vehicle?
Let me know if you have any questions.
