90 day review of Versa from new Fitbit user

Well, i just returned my Versa after REI's gracious 90 day return. on paper, Versa was perfect for me.  However, almost nothing works as it should, and i really, really wanted to love it.  I tried another one recently from Amazon to make sure my first unit was not bad.  here are the gripes, in no particular order:

1. synching problems.  loses pairing.  bluetooth synching very iffy.  Android would not synch on bluetooth at all.  on Iphone i mostly had to be connected to wifi to synch.  tried all the stuff.  software upgrades, rebbot, repair etc.  my old Jawbone UP3 had no problems.  i miss you, UP3. snyching should be setup once and seemless after that....

2. steps.  Poor.  this is it's primary function!!  kept on my non-dominant hand, set software to dominant to reduce sensitivity.  still over counts steps.  still counts steps while doing other things like driving.  why do i have to wear the watch on my non dominant hand to reduce overcount?  i want to wear on my dominant hand!  this change could be done in software with a setting, not forcing users to change wrists!

3.  heart rate while working out is a joke.  really.  shows 100 when my rate is 120-130. at other times it may or may not be accurate.  inconsistent. completely useless for HR during workouts! Urgh.

4.  they say the Andriod Lollipop or some version requires syncing to be on for the Versa to synch.  really?  why do i have 2 other bluetooth devices that come up with the same "location services must be on" message, but when i hit cancel when that screen comes up on those devices, they synch anyway?  Why can't the Versa do this?  i don't want my location services on!

5. Sleep tracking is awful.  this is another primary function and one of the reasons i bought it! it has large gaps during the night where it can't read.  many nights it gives teh useless simplified tracking.  The Jawbone UP3 was much better.  why? Versa consistently shows me starting to sleep at  1 or 2 am when i go to bed at 10 or 11.

6.  god help you if you edit the sleep.  more times than not if you edit it, all teh detailed tracking is lost and you have useless simplified tracking.  for example.  last night it says i fell asleep at 2am and woke at 630am and has detailed info for that time.  i actually went to be at 11am, so i edit the start sleep to 11.  then is "loses" all the detailed sleep including the stuff it had from 2am-630, now show the whole night as simplified and useless.  ARGHH. The Jawbone worked just fine.

Fitbit should buy Jawbones patented electro-mechanical (not optical) sensors since Jawbone is out of the business.

Versa

Potential rating:5

Rating as it stands:1

In summary, it fails on the most primary tasks for which it was designed.  Who in the world beta tests their stuff?  this should not even have passed prototype Alpha stage.
