If you are having problems with the HR sensor not working on a wrist that has a tattoo  - put an expoxy sticker over the HR sensor and it will work flawlessly.  My husband did this after trying multiple versa watches and as soon as he put the sticker on them - boom they worked. 

 

Something like this is what I'm referring too.

 

50 Pcs. Clear Round Epoxy Stickers - Various Diameters Between 6mm and 76mm - Self Adhesive (0.25 inch (6.4 mm))

I appreciate you have taken the time to let us know the workaround your husband tried in order for the Versa to start monitoring his heart rate. I think this is a great idea that will be very helpful for many members of the Community facing the same situation.
