Active Zone Minutes Symbols

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have a Fitbit Versa 2 I sync with a Samsung Android mobile.

When I'm spinning it registers my active zone minutes which I can see under impact as a green filled in circle with a dark lightning symbol.

When I did a short walk ( I don't walk well due to mobility issues ) the active minutes show as a white filled circle with a small green filled circle half the size and the same small dark lightning symbol. These don't add to the daily active zone minutes.

Please can anyone tell me the difference between,

1. a large green circle and dark lightning symbol and

2. a small green circle and dark lightning symbol?

Thank you in advance

Not sure if this answers your question, but the outer circle represents your daily goal.  How much of it is filled with green is the amount of your daily goal you did in that workout.

The lightning symbol is zone minutes; you should have similar circles for steps with a shoe icon, and calories burned with a flame.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I'm actually looking within an exercise I did. So if I go into "walk" there are different options to look at;

If I go into the IMPACT section it breaks it down to steps, calories burned & and active minutes. It is this icon symbol that is different... a smaller green filled circle and lightning symbol.

Sorry caught reply button before finishing....

If I compare this to spinning and go into it and look under the Impact Section it breaks it down the same into steps, calories burned and active minutes. However, the active zone minutes in this are in a full size green filled circle with lightning symbol.

The active zone minutes from the spinning are added to my daily active zone minutes but the ones from my walk are not added to my daily active zone minutes.

I hope that makes more sense what I'm asking.

Thank you in advance

PS Sorry its over 2 replies

"The active zone minutes from the spinning are added to my daily active zone minutes but the ones from my walk are not added to my daily active zone minutes."

I think that is the gist of what you are getting at.  Zone minutes from every exercise session should be added to daily total.  I have never seen a case where this has not been true.  Not to doubt you, but I wonder if you are confusing symbols or something.  Or perhaps you have not synced since the exercise session yet to get to session results added to daily totals.

Ahhh ok sorry

I did spinning which was 10 active zone minutes and circle was completely full

I walled which was 9 active zone minutes and the circle is half the size filled green

My daily aim is 15 active zone minutes.

The 10 active zone minutes were added to my today screen but the 9 were not added so my total was only 10.

What am I missing please that I'm not understanding? I'm grateful for any help. Thank you

Yes that's correct thank you.

These sessions were both yesterday and I have synced a good few times. I just don't understand why one was added to my daily total but not the other.

I've just taken a photo and compared both stats side by side  so I've noticed;

Spinning - says + 10 - 10 active zone minutes with the 3 chevrons in a large green filled circle. (Was added to the daily total)

Walking - says +9 of 18  active minutes with a lightning sign in a small green filled circle (wasn't added to the daily total)

I'm sorry I must admit I'm confused by it and your help is appreciated

I'm beginning to see the issue.  I think you are confusing "(Active) Zone Minutes" and "Active Minutes".  Zone Minutes have the 3 chevrons icon.  Active minutes have the single lightning bolt.  These are different things and should not be added together.  I don't understand how or where you are seeing Active Minutes with the Exercise Summary, if that is where you are seeing them.

Posting screen shots is the only way I think this could be explained.

Hi

Thank you so much for your time helping me.

Yes , in my last reply I suddenly realised Im confusing Active zone minutes with active minutes! I also didn't realise there was an option to add a photo which I've just seen so here they are attached ...

The active minutes are showing in my walk impact data

10 Zone Minutes for the day seems correct, those you got in the spinning workout.  Your "Active Minutes" on the walk apparently were not intense enough to count as Zone Minutes.  Zone Minutes generally are harder to earn and require greater intensity than Active minutes.

If you want to read more about Zone Minutes vs. Active Minutes, see:

What are Active Zone Minutes or active minutes on my Fitbit device?

The only thing that surprises me is seeing Active Minutes listed for the Walk.

Brilliant thanks ever so much for all your help today.

I must admit I’ve not seen active minutes on a walk at all before.

Is there somewhere on the app I can see my active minutes total per day please? I've only been looking at active zone minutes until now and not realised there was such a thing as active minutes too.

Thank you

Active minutes used to be the standard measurement until a year or 2 or so ago when Fitbit changed to Zone Minutes, I guess to go along with recommendations of CDC and Heart Association, stressing the importance of more vigorous exercise.  Some of the older Fitbit models still use active minutes.  I believe the fitbit.com dashboard has not been switched to Zone Minutes either.  And there are some third-party clock faces that show active minutes.
