Active minutes aren't accurate?

I typically workout early in the morning, so my active minutes are usually zero right before I start a workout.  However, after doing a workout timed for exactly 30 minutes, my active minutes now show that I have anywhere between 47 to 62 active minutes. Why does it seem to double my active minutes anytime I work out? It's not as though it's adding more time as I go throughout the day. It's literally accounting for 62 minutes within a 30 minute time period. Is this the way active minutes are supposed to track? Is there some type of active minutes conversion that I don't understand?

Assuming you are really talking about 'Active Zone Minutes', when you are in Cardio or Peak zones, each minute counts double.

On phone app, click on Zone Minutes and it show you the zones with '2X Zone Min' with Cardio and Peak.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
