Active minutes not accurate

While walking this morning, I noticed that my fitbit had only logged 28 minutes when I had been walking much longer. My usual weekend walk is about 70 - 75 minutes.  I tapped my versa screen, and it seemed start logging again, reading 41 minutes by the time I got home.  Once it synched using my home wifi, it ready 28 minutes again.  Everything seems to record correctly yesterday (Saturday).

I tried entering the walk period and approximate miles walked using the logging feature, but now  my log no longer even shows the 28 minutes it did log earlier today. I checked my Versa again now and it is showing no movement/steps for a two hour period while I was at home doing house work.

I synch using both my phone/android and a dongle, but the problems I am describing are actually visible on the Versa screen.  Please help.  I credit my fitbit with helping me keep off a substantial weight loss that I achieved just before getting it.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Rolfe. I am sorry for the delayed response.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing the details of an inconsistency with active minutes you've experienced. Thank you for your efforts to resolve this and letting me know that you tried to manually log your walk. I understand that it is very important to you to accurately track your activity in order to work on your health and wellness goals.

As you may have read in our article on the topic, our algorithms detect subtle differences in exertion that may explain why two seemingly identical activities result in different active minute totals. Also keep in mind that active minutes are only recorded for activities that last 10 minutes or longer.

Manually logged activities override your device's data. Sometimes customers report a decrease in active minutes after logging an activity, which can occur if what your device recorded was more intense than what you logged.

I recommend to restart your device as described in this help article. This will refresh your watch internally. Please monitor your Fitbit Versa after that and let me know how it goes.

If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.
