Add more banks to Fitbit Pay-Versa

I've been researching a new smartwatch after the heartrate sensor broke on my current watch. I was at first excited to find out about Fitbit Pay only  to be disappointed with the lack of support from any of the major uk banks.

For people that already own a Versa have they found any usable/creative work arounds?  I'm looking at Starling bank but they only offer a current account not credit card. This would mean having to keep track of the balance and keeping it topped up to use on the Versa.  (I'm happy with my current (current) account so don't want to switch from that being my main one).

I think a credit card would be a better option as you can normally arrange for this to be paid off every month automatically. The only option for this I think would be to open a new Santander card. They have about 3 different cards though and I've as yet found no detail if they all support Fitbit Pay!

Any thoughts suggestions on what you've done?

Hi @dp106, nice to see you in the community.

I was in the same position as yourself and decided to open a Starling account. I wasn't expecting much, but I must say I'm very pleasantly surprised. I'm not in the position to make Starling my main account, but it's very easy to transfer funds from my main account to my starling account (literally seconds). What I usually do is come pay day, transfer all of my spending money to my starling account and leave all my bills etc to my main account. It works really well and Starling has some cool features that I'm hoping the main banks take note of.

I know of other forum members who have done the same all with positive experiences. In fact, some members have had such a good experience that they have fully switched to starling. Also as far as I know you can contact Starling to set up an overdraft, I know it's not quite the same as a credit card but it should work in a similar way.

Hi @N8teGee thanks for having me 🙂

I have done the same for now and opened a Starling current account, wow how easy is that to do!  I read somewhere they may be introducing a credit card in the future so that might work better for us.  As long as there's an option to pay off your balance every month you'd no longer have to worry about transferring funds to the Starling account.

Of course the simplest solution would be for Fitbit to support Google Pay and we wouldn't have to wait for the banks to adopt yet another different payment system.  But when does common sense ever come in to these decisions! 🙂
