Alexa skill "find my phone" sends all none US/UK users into a verification loop.
This skill sent my Versa 2 into a verification loop.
3 days after i got my watch i tried the “find my phone command” and Alexa asked if i wanted to add that skill. I thought shure, why not.
Problem was it would not do anything until I gave it my number.
Nomatter what i said it just responds “what's your number”
Now I don't have a US og UK number so...I gave it my norwegain number....
Alexa responded "Thanks, one last step. To confirm ownership of that phone number, I've just text it a security code. When you receive the code, please interrupt me with my name and read it out. What's the code? "
I never got a code.
From then on whenever I asked my Versa Alex something she asked for the code... but i got no code. because my number is a Norwegian number.
So now every time i asked Alexa on Fitbit Versa something she only wanted the Code.
I thought my Versa was broken. I did a hard reboot several times, Updated all apps on phone, and finally did a full factory reset on the Versa. Every time I logged back into my Amazon account she still only responded “what's the code?”
Had long talks with Amazon and Fitbit and none of them could figure it out.
Until 4 week later I started reading the event log. That's when i realised that “Find my phone” is a third party app. Not a built in Alexa function. I did not realise this.
So I removed the skill, but my Versa 2 was still in the “what's the code” loop(
!?). Alexa support said the skill was still connected even after removing it. So I enabled and disabled one last time and did a hard reboot and this time i asked Alexa "Exit skill".. She responded “i don't know how to do that” and now she finally works again..
Now after 4 week i can finally turn off my hue lights with my fitbit.
So. No! I do not recommend this skill. You have no way to cancel or restart the process. And no option to resend code or exit the skill wons it starts.
Use fitbits “find my phone” app instead. It works perfectly.
