Alexa won't connect to my Versa 3

Just got my Versa 3 and have a Samsung Galaxy S22 phone. I can't get the Alexa voice assistant to connect to my Amazon account. I have tried the following: logging out of all Amazon and Alexa apps on my phone, restarting my phone, unpairing and repairing my phone to the fitbit, rebooting my wifi, restarting my fitbit, making sure my microphone is on, giving all permissions to both Alexa/Amazon and Fitbit apps in app settings, making sure all apps didn't have available updates, deleting and reinstalling Fitbit and Alexa/Amazon apps, installing the Fitbit Skill in the Alexa app and connecting my fitbit through the Alexa app instead of the Fitbit app.

All my Amazon Echos and Dots can connect to my Fitbit, but my Fitbit won't connect to Alexa. I get the following error message: Unable to connect. There was an error connecting to your Amazon account. Please try again.

I am however able to connect to Google assistant, which I then turned off again.

Anything I haven't tried? Am I missing something obvious?

Hello Everyone,

I believe I can help with this issue. First uninstall the amazon shopping app from your mobile device. Then go back to the fitbit amazon app. Let the app set up your amazon account through your phone browser. After everything is complete try using alexa on your watch. If that works you can then reinstall the amazon shopping app on your phone.
😃 I hope that helps. Please let me know

Hi there, @Tiffalina99. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 3 before reaching out. I understand where your concern is coming from.

While reading your post I was wondering if you turn off Google Assistant or completely removed it from your phone's Bluetooth settings? Note that you can have only 1 active voice assistant at a time (Alexa or Google Assistant). To switch to a different voice assistant, first disconnect your active voice assistant. For more information, see How do I disconnect my voice assistant?

If the above doesn't work, the best way to get help for this problem is to chat with us online or give us a call. Click here to get connected.

I am getting exactly the same error message as you seems like its a Fitbit error nothing to do with Amazon

Best Answer

Already tried and don't work, has the access protocols for Amazon been updated or has a programmer been fiddling with the code on the Fitbit side of things. Too many people have suddenly had same issue so please get it sorted.

My Fitbit is not connected to any voice assistant. I've checked.

Any resolution to the problem as I still can't connect to Alexa. Had been fine till yesterday.

All I got from support was I need to update to 3.6 yet the latest version is 3.58 so really didn't help.

I'm in the same boat.  Been trying to figure this out for days now.  An official response from Fitbit would be good.

Having the same issue - Tried all the steps including a factory reset.  Google connects for me also and my Versa 2 connects to Amazon.  I hope someone figures this out.  I keep getting the connect to Alexa nag reminders.  Wish I could connect!

I have reached out to Fitbit support - 3 x now, and the only information I get is to try to connect a few times, then it must be an Amazon issue.  My Versa 2 connects with no issues.  Is there anyone looking at this?  Very frustrating!

You are a ROCKSTAR!!!!  Worked immediately.  Thank you SO much!  I had tried everything that was suggested both here, through support and scouring the internet, but this was never brought up.  Thanks again!  Now I can take my multitasking to the next level by having Alexa keep a list of all the things I remember I need to do while I'm running!
