Am I understanding correctly that if messaging app is left open you won't receive notifications?

I'm on IOS. I'm not receiving alerts for msgs. Sometimes if I swipe down from the top of the screen, I can see the msgs there. Sometimes it just says "all caught up", etc. 

My messaging app is always open in the background. Could this be the issue?

@lorraineg Yes if it's in the foreground and the phone display is ON. Basically, if there're no notifications in the Notification Centre (Bar) on your phone, they will not be shown on Versa either. Versa shows only what's available to it in the Notification Centre of your phone.

Ok, I'm still not receiving any notifications. I know the usual places to check as my Blaze worked fine. I actually closed the messaging app completely after sending a text to a friend so it's not bc the conversation was open. 

If I swipe down on the versa, I can see the message but I don't get any alert/notification.

Notifications are turned on in Versa settings as well as on my phone (settings>fitbit>notifications). I've also checked to make sure that "hide alerts" isn't on for each person I'm not getting alerts from.

I'm at a loss....

I also changed back to a Fitbit clockface just in case the 3rd party one was the issue. It wasn't.

Any ideas?

Surprise, surprise! Apparently when the app and your phone say that notifications are on, it can still be turned off on the watch itself. Found this out after holding the left side button down and seeing that notifications were "off", even though on the app AND in my phone settings, it says they are on.
