Anyone else disappointed by the Versa

I've previously used a Charge and latterly a Charge 2 very happily. I also used a Pebble Steel for notifications.

Great I thought the Versa will combine both and therefore won't need to wear two devices.

Unfortunately I have been disappointed.

I attempted to set up the Versa via Bluetooth but when the time required got to an indicated 600 minutes I gave up.

Using Wifi it became a more magaeable hour!! Surely this must be speeded up.

Since then I have been unable to get the calls notification despite following the various troubleshooting instructions subject to restarting the device which presumable will take another hour and may not work.

Also the Pebble used to retain the message etc on screen until cleared. The Versa loses it instantaneously and as the vibrate doesn't seem to work I am not sure when I get the notifications requested. Although I can scroll through the notications received of course.

As I say all in all a very disappointing device. Hopefully future firmware may improve things

Hold the left button down for at least a second, then you will see the other screens. There's a thin bar on the top of the screen that shows which one you're in, from the left it goes Music/Wallet/Shortcuts. The Shortcuts one has the screen wake and notifications options, but those should be both on by default.

As a diehard Pebble fan, I share your disappointment. I got a Huawei P20 Lite just to find out about Fitbit doesn't truly support all of Android devices for which I have to wait for their "continuous tests on new devices" or ask for a refund (which I've been told that may take forever).

Fitbit must start accepting that Versa and Fitbit app have failed the market.

Anybody who's looking into buying a versa needs to read up on the Ionic first, they're the same basic watch running the same exact software, and have the same exact problems.

The Ionic has been out for quite awhile now, so there's no excuse for buying a versa and being suprised with any of the common issues.

It's very easy to switch from the versa forum to the Ionic forum to do your research 😋

There are folks who are using Fitbit trackers of all types and enjoying them with little to no problems. They CAN be difficult (and frustrating) to set up sometimes, but the more you work with them, the more you figure out what steps to take to get them working right.

Quite right I was caught out by my previous experience with the Charge and Charge 2 which were simplicity itself to use and also the tech reviews which made no mention of any of the issues encountered. Never interested in the Ionic so never thought to look!!

I should say that the other aspects of the Versa work fine. Steps sleep stairs etc it's just the complicated notifications that seem to let it down.

agreed! I am not a big fan of how the notifications work. some messages do not appear fully, while some do.

Hi @BrianLeach the notifications remain on my Versa, if I swipe down on clock face they are there. To clear the notification I can swipe to cancel or select clear all on the Versa alternatively if I read the email/text or view the missed call on my iPhone then the corresponding notification is automatically removed from the Versa. Appreciate this is with iOS and not Android.

I had zero issues connecting with Bluetooth and with WiFi.  Less than a minute for each.  I suspect the problems you experienced had nothing to do with the Versa itself.

It is possible that he's using an "unsupported device". Fitbit has confimed
that not all devices are supported for the use of the Fitbit app and
watches.

No issue with connecting bluetooth and wifi. The problems I described were setting up the versa initially after those connections.

Nope, Galaxy S7 Edge supported I think.

They don't really update the list, my device isn't listed as supported either and works perfectly. The setup is finicky. If you have notification issues, I know it helps to disable and re-enable the notification service by Fitbit, it should be in your phone settings under "Notification Access". I had issues with notifications over all, phone restart didn't work, ever since I re-enabled the service it's working flawlessly. Give it a try 🙂 @BrianLeach

By the way - the notifications go away after you tap on the screen, however if you slide down the notification list (simply slide from the upper edge down), all of the notifications are listed there and you can tap on them to see more of the message. I personally get two notifications for Gmail - one that I got an email and another showing me the text of the email itself, as I have Gmail set as my default email app AND have set up the phone to send those notifications to me extra in notification settings via the Fitbit app. It doesn't show all of the message if it's super long, but it does show quite a lot if you tap on the notification. Hope this helps!

Are you talking about the one-time initial setup?  It took about 25 minutes for me, end-to-end.  The instructions estimated 30 minutes.

I too am disappointed in the versa and in fitbit in general with this device. Mine is not synching at all, and spent much time on phone with fitbit and they are not helpful at all. I've been a fitbit user for the past 5 years and never had such issues or bad service.

@Beckybrit what phone do you use? It might be incompatible.

iphone 7 operating on newest set up, we also had same issue with samsung 9. I have done several factory resets over the past few days and sometime it will find it and other times it doesn't on either phone. Its all linked to why they are not sync as well. There is a whole discussion thread with people with either sync issues or bluetooth connectivity issues as well. I am just getting totally fed up with the approach and issues and service being provided to help out with issue. All other fitbit trackers and devices I have connect to either phone

I did realise this but I was hoping they might remain on the screen initially like the Pebble watches.

Thanks for this. I tried it but sadly no luck. I think it may be something to do with the Do not disturb settings on the Samsung. I still don't get the notification but periodically it vibrates to the wallet screen although I have not yet activated this!!
