Apple AirPods don't work when out of iPhone range

Got my Versa yesterday and am sorta "meh" about it. This is the third Fitbit I've own and the one I'm least impressed with.

I was able to sync my Apple AirPods to the Versa yesterday, and they seemed to work fine. I was even impressed that the Versa allowed me to control the volume, which I understand was an issue with the Ionic.

But today, I went for a walk with just my AirPods and Versa, no iPhone, and as soon as I was out of range of my phone, the AirPods cut out.

Anyone else had that problem or does support have a fix?

This happened with me also when out of range from my iPhone the AirPods no longer work with the watch. Can anyone advise how to fix this?  Other than that I love the watch.

Ok Hilly I don't know if you ever got this to work for you but I did!... so before you go to use your airpods with your watch.. disconnect them from your iphone. You don't have to "forget" them on your phone just go into the Bluetooth settings and disconnect. Then connect to your watch and you can leave your iphone go exercise and the airpods will stay connected to your watch the whole time. When you want to use them with your phone again just go in and re connect.  I hope this helps.  Have a good day.

Do you have music synced to your Versa??? If not once you are out of range of your phone they would stop working as the airpods/versa would not be receiving music.

Did you transfer music on to the watch?  Mine work fine with watch.  Had trouble pairing once, but turned off iPhone and watch "Rebooted" and was fine.

It seemed like I experienced trouble the one time its been fine since then.  Yes the music is transferred on the watch.

Yep mine worked a couple times .. now the same thing. Can anyone give a definite answer on how to make the fitbit versa work with Airpods once out of range from the iPhone.

To answer someone's previous question yes I have the music loaded on to my Fitbit.

Mine work when out of range; however, there are times when listening to I think beezer I get static.  Stopping music and then starting helps a little.  I’ll try today with iTunes playlist that I downloaded
