Hiya, I have had my versa2 for just over 3 years now and it’s starting to play up a bit. I can’t get a heartbeat any longer, I have turned the heart rate off and on again and reset it as advised, but it is still not there. Plus my battery seems to be going down a bit quicker than usual. I’m just wondering if anyone knows what the average life of a versa2 is and if it’s time to get a new one.

Hi @JennyBazza - if you have done a factory reset and it's not fixed it may have internal damage from a firmware update or water getting in. Don't be tempted by the more recent watches which don't have some of the features of the prior models and not all clocks and apps are available if you have favourite ones.
Watches that don't get wet or have updates can easily last longer than 3 years.

That’s @Guy_
I have used it for swimming a few times but not loads. And as for the updates, doesn’t it do that automatically?

@JennyBazza- water ingression may accumulate over time, depending on how bad the seal is.
Updates to the watch are normally manual, you are prompted in the Fitbit App to do them.
Updates to the Fitbit App depend on how your phone is setup, you can normally make it a manual choice. By default it may be an automatic update, but then you never know what changed and when or if anything is changing and why, so surprises are possible, .

@JennyBazza- I don't update and haven't had any problems with the older working versions.
The issue with updates is you may get new features which aren't fully tested [and you may not need or want, or it changes the way things work so they stop working, often referred to as "progress"!] so it actually creates problems, especially if everything is working normally.
Unless you read the release notes to see if any issues you are having have been fixed or there is a feature you need, you can potentially be opening a can of worms without actually fixing anything.
Unfortunately Fitbit don't think it necessary provide useful release notes, so you are totally in the dark as to what it will do to you. Have a look in the forums at things people have experienced.
The old adage of, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, holds very true.
Worst of all there is no "undo" for any Fitbit updates, so all the more important to tread lightly.

@JennyBazza - thanks, in the meantime make a note of the names of any clocks or apps you currently use, and see which are available for the 3, which has a different architecture so some might not be available.
