Bands won't stay connected to Versa 3

I just got a new fitbit 3 in the mail today.  I have listened to several youtubes on how to connect it, but the band never clicks, then just falls off.  It might stay on for a few minutes, but then it falls off.  I don't think the mecanism works that holds the band on the watch head.
