I took a 6.5 hike the other day but was worried my versa would for so I left it in normal mode.... Is there a way to conserve battery on a multi-day hike or just a really love one?
Any one yet this? What were your results?

I don't tend to bother with that. If I'm doing a big hike then I'm not going to be doing much else that day so just use the daily totals on the Today screen which is good enough for me.
Your post is well timed, I just got back from a 13 mile walk and the battery is 75% (it was charged first thing yesterday)

If you don't use connected GPS then battery life is not an issue. I just wear my versa and hike - no connected GPS, no activity tracking, and a recent 26 mile hike used up around 15% of the battery

That's what I wanted to hear, do you set it to hiking mode?

Does connected GPS even use that much battery? Seeing as most of the work is being done by the phone. Obviously it has to maintain a BT connection and a flow of data, but it shouldn't be anything like the drain caused by the Ionic's built in GPS.

A good question. I've never felt the need to use GPS so have no stats on that. I'd be interested in seeing some though.

I'm in a similar situation @SteveH. The only time I tend to use GPS is when I cycle, and unfortunately I've not done much of that recently.
Hopefully I will get to test the connected GPS on my Versa soon. From what I remember from using it on my blaze, the battery consumption was pretty good. This is why I was a bit miffed that the Ionic didn't have the option of switching between connected and onboard.
