Battery sign with an exclamation mark on Versa 2

My Versa 2 is less than 2 months old and has switched off (with 72% battery), won't turn on and is displaying a red empty battery sign with an exclamation mark over the screen. I have returned to charge and cleaned the back of the watch, any ideas????

This happened to me after the most recent firmware update May2020. Went from 64% battery to unable to charge. Was still under warranty, so Fitbit sent me a replacement. They didn't request the old one back, so I kept it on the charger for days and still nothing. This morning I plugged it in again and saw the battery with red exclamation symbol. I'm guessing that means the battery is critically dead.

I contacted fitbit with the same issue and they told me that I had to pay to send it back to them myself without a return authorization number. I would then have to contact them with the tracking number so they could locate it. I just bought the watch in February 2020. Had it less than three months. I wonder how they sent you a replacement and told me I had to send my back at my cost.

Not sure. Try calling back and see if get someone different. I tried the chat with customer service first and went thru complete debug via chat. Then got fed up and called them. They could see from history that I did debug thru chat and then said they would send a new one and I can recycle the old one.

Hello fellow Versa 2 owners.  Unfortunately mine has done the same, was at 3/4 level charge and suddenly flashed the dead battery with exclamation point.  Can't get it to charge or do anything now.  Cleaned the contacts, switched out chargers (checked to make sure brick was working on my Versa 1), have repeatedly pressed the reset button, held it in as well, and it won't do anything?  At first the Fitbit logo would come up as if it were trying to reboot, then flash a couple of times then dark screen again.  This happened about 10 days ago July 20th, was there an update that caused this?   Was working fine up until this point.  I bought this Versa 2 new on 12/26/19 so it's about 7 mos old.  Anyone from Fitbit able to assist?  Really miss my fitness tracker use it every day...

UPDATE:  Just got off the customer service chat line and Daniella took great care of me, we walked through the troubleshooting steps and ends up I will be having my Versa 2 replaced.  Very impressed with a company that understands their customers and takes care of them.  This is my 4th Fitbit device and I've never had an issue with any of them up until now.  Excellent Customer Service, thank you Fitbit 🙂

UPDATE:  Just had to reach out to FitBit Customer Support as the replacement Versa 2 that was to be mailed within 5 days receipt of my non-working Versa 2 never arrived.  I returned it via the prepaid FedEx label on July 30th and it's now August 15th with no word nor replacement Versa 2...  Hoping to see it soon, have been using my older Versa but really miss my Versa 2 with Fitbit pay etc.
