Be honest: should I buy the Versa?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Im honking of upgrading from a Charge 2, but in reviewing all of the threads here I have serious reservations. It sounds like there are multiple serious faults that are not yet worked out.

Are new Versa owners seeing things improve?

Its a nice looking tracker but to be honest I would wait a few months until they sort out the glitches....and there are many! Also if you like listening to music on your tracker unless you are one of a very few people on the planet who uses Deezer or Pandora this is not the watch for you, I don't know why Fitbit does not support Spotify but until they do they will struggle to get traction in the market with this device. They tell you can transfer personal music from our computer to the versa such as iTunes .......what they don't tell you is that its pretty much a lottery as to if you can connect your computer with the versa and I have tried all of the online advice and have been unable to get a connection so I still have to use a separate device to listen to my music. Very disappointed, my advice don't buy a Versa yet!

Might depend on what kind of phone you have.  Several android phones are having issues. I have an iPhone and have had 0 problems.  Also the answer you are getting from this board might be skewed a bit.  The versa is getting a 4/5 star review from Amazon and 4.3/5 from Best Buy.  Which are pretty good and in line with other smart watches.

I want all of the functionality advertised. Accurate heart rates, step and stair counts, sleep tracking, music and notifications. Thanks for all the responses. I want a fitness tracker more than a way to read text messages on my wrist... it’s veey disappointing that the Versa is having so many issues with the fitness data.

See my Versa music download problem post...if this is not fixed in the next few days, I'll be sending it back: Fitbit Versa issues with music downloads...Fitbit Connect crashes

I totally agree. I just bought the Versa and itsi a royal pain to get working. I've spent hours trying to get it up and running. Plus, I'm a runner and I want to download a different running app but I don't think your able. I'm probably going to end up returning this watch. I have a Sony Smartwatch 3 and it's way easier to navigate. Just wish the battery life was better

I went from a flex2 to the Versa and I love it. I haven’t had any issues with it. I love that it’s water resistant and it looks really nice and comfortable to wear. I get all my notifications and it syncs to my phone. The only issue I have which I think is an issue with other fitbits is the stair count is not accurate when I am go walking as exercise. When I go walking, it shoots up my stair count to a ridiculous amount. I am also waiting eagerly for the quick text respond and hope it comes soon. And I haven’t used the music player on the Versa so I can’t say anything on that. If I listen to music, I’ll listen to it from my phone. I always carry my phone with me anyway.

But I’m happy with my purchase. I don’t really need a smart watch since I carry my phone with me and I’m not an Apple person lol. I wanted a more fitness tracker oriented watch and an upgrade from the flex2 so the Versa was perfect.

My wife has a Samsung 8 and had no problems with install or any other feature. Have downloaded personal music fron PC using Windows 10. You must use Wfi and the Fitbit PC app, NOT by going to the dashboard via Fitbit.com,  to transfer music. Took about 45 sec per song. I have a Galaxy 5 and an Ionic so I had some level of experience regarding what to expect when it came to getting the Versa up and running. I would recommend buying it. A good buy for $229 (she has the one with the NFC chip for our Chase credit card and B Of America debit card. That works flawlessly as well.) Good luck.

I got my versa yesterday I've had no connection problems with only Bluetooth is a little slow sometimes but not a manger issue, I just close the app then reopen it again. I did have a problem with the weather app as it locked onto farinhite and not Celsius. Sorted it though by changing miles to kilometres and now no problem. I'm happy with it.

Depends what you are looking for. For the features and the price I would say yes. So far they are fixing the glitches. It is a new roll out so in this day and age extended beta is to be expected. My current gripe is the battery does not last. I am adjusting the sync and connection frequency to see if that helps. As long as you can charge daily you should be fine. I would buy again.

That causes further frustration knowing Fitbit remains silent on these issues. Deniable culpability I suppose.

I upgraded from the Charge 2 and love it. Setup is a bit more involved and probably causing some of the reported frustrations. Forums are not a good gauge, many people only come to it if they have a problem. Mine has been working great, apple watch forums have a host of issues also, its the nature of the product and the public. I'm sure there are tens of thousands of happy users, maybe 30 or 40 unhappy ones here?

Just buy it. You know you want it.... 🙂 Worse case just return it.

It's definitely a fitness tracker before a smart watch. Which is the same reason why I wanted it as well. Bought mine the day it was released. No problems at all.

I bought one. And I returned it. The heart rate monitor didn't work and that is a key component.

I would say wait maybe 6 months before you buy the versa.   Too many glitches that fitbit will not accept at the moment.  There answer is always do a factory reset or that's how the watch should work.   I had to return mine, much to my disappointment I think it looks great but it does not do the simple functions you would expect from a fitness/smart watch.

My wife has a Versa and she has had A Ionic and a Charge 2 before that. She has no issues and all stats are spot on. I think about 1% or less of everyone who bought one is having issues. Most people dont have issues its just the 1% or less of any tech product that have issues. Nothing is perfect and there will always be some that have faulty gremlins.

I have to say, @MarcoGFitbit, I'm not sure which forums you are reading but it seems the Versa certainly has NOT been "very well received" on this forum. You can tell by the vast number of posts about the issues folks are having.

I like mine so far.  I transferred music from I tunes, can set wake up alarms right on watch, light weight.  So far love it.  Had charge 2.  Love the sleep stats etc.  Really nice so far!

Perhaps they are referring to reviews and posts from Tech mags, on Amazon, Bestbuy, etc. Seems it is well recd by most based on the reviews and ratings. I find those to be fairly objective responses. And my wife loves hers. It was easy to set up and it works quite well. You can put me in the well received category.
