Bike ride stops recording mid route

On a 20 mile bike ride

After about 2 to 3 miles the watch stops recording both time and distance.

This has happened several times now in last couple of weeks 

Any ideas ?

This has been happening to me on runs and walks, only been happening since I updated to the new software which seems a bit of a coincidence
