Built-In GPS on my Versa 3 isn't connecting

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've bought my new versa 3 and try to use for the first time.

GPS is not working. I've been looking at the word "GPS connecting" for a few hour.

I've tried almost all solutions on Internet and NO ONE works.

Reinstall the app, factory reset, disconnect wifi....

Anything I can do for the GPS problem?

I am using Samsung A71, Android 10.

I am SO DISAPPOINTED about the product!

Hi there @TreeAu, welcome to the Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear about the inconveniences you've been having with the built-in GPS on your Versa 3, I understand why you're feeling disappointed. Thanks for troubleshooting this issue prior to posting here, I'll be glad to continue to help you.

Please note the following in order for the built-in GPS to properly work:

  • Confirm that the exercise type uses built-in GPS. For more information, see How do I start a workout with GPS on my Fitbit device?
  • Make sure that you have a clear view of the sky when you start the exercise. Environmental factors, including tall buildings, dense forest, steep hills, and thick cloud cover, can interfere with your device’s ability to connect to GPS satellites. If the signal is blocked—either because you're indoors, underground, or due to another reason—GPS won't work.

  • Check that GPS is turned on for the exercise. For more information, see How do I turn on GPS for an exercise on my Fitbit device?
  • Make sure that your device is charged to at least 80%.
  • Confirm that your device is syncing with the Fitbit app. The more you sync your device, the faster your device can connect to GPS.
  • Avoid trying to start an exercise with GPS several times in a row, which can prevent your device from connecting to GPS.

See if GPS connects after each step:

  1. Force quit, and reopen the Fitbit app to refresh the connection with your device.
  2. On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  3. Restart your phone.

On a side note, note that Fitbit products are compatible with most devices that have the following operating systems: Apple iOS 12.2 or higher, Android OS 7.0 or higher, and Windows 10 version 1607.0 or higher. For the latest list of devices that support the Fitbit app for Android, see Which phones and tablets can I use with my Fitbit watch or tracker?

Please keep in mind that when a device is not supported and does not meet the require OS we cannot guarantee its functionality with the Fitbit app. It might work at a certain time and then it can stop working out of nowhere after an update. This is because the app is not optimized to that device and any change could impact the performance.

We routinely test new devices to ensure full compatibility with Fitbit devices and the Fitbit app, and are constantly working to confirm compatibility with new phone models. Be sure to verify that your phone or tablet meets the minimum operating system requirements .

Let me know if you need further assistance, I'll be around.

Hi! I've tried all of this and my gps still won't connect, which means I can't use this fitbit to track rides and send data to Strava, which is why I bought this thing in the first place. What should I try after the suggestions in your last post?

I got mine before Christmas and it didn't work until about 5 days after I posted this. Now it has worked every time. I don't know what has changed. Sorry.

Dude, you're an idiot. How are you going to reset / restart the app when you're out exercising? The whole point is to not have the phone with you. Just admit that the GPS sucks on the fitbit, especially the Versa 3.

Hi MarreFitbit

I have tried all these fixes, and more. Up until 3 days ago my fitbit versa 3 was working perfectly. I cannot get GPS on my Versa 3, and I am convinced it is a problem with my hardware.  My husband bought me me my device less than a year ago. Please help?

I bought my Versa 3 in March 2021. The GPS worked until recently. I did all the things you suggested. Nothing worked. Is anyone have a solution? I need it to work...

I’ve had mine a week having moved from Garmin because I wanted a better looking watch. I’ve had it a week amd althoughI generally love it, the GPS thing is a huge issue for me. I bought it through Currys PC World amd they’ve offered me an exchange for another watch. I’m considering the Apple Watch Series 3, but it’s not as good looking as the Versa 3.

Really don’t know what to do for the best. Part of me is missing the old Garmin, which I never thought I’d say…
