Calories when walking/cycling

I've noticed that my Fitbit automatically recognises a bike ride as exercise (which shows 0 steps counted) while it still counts the ghost steps it picks up from bumps on the road in the daily step goal. There are other topics about this, and people seem to be divided about if this is supposed to work like that.

 

But my question is different. Based on how it's working, I assume it separates the bike exercise from the steps, and calculates burned calories for both. Does this mean it also separates a running exercise from the steps? Does this mean it registers calories for a running exercise, plus calories for the steps it added to my daily goal?

@tandpastatester Welcome! Thanks for being part of our Community!  The activity detection or manually logging helps the device and the Fitbit account to better calculate the caloric burn for that period. It won't double count it as the activity detected/logged will override the information for that time. The steps will still show on your daily totals as they were detected by your Versa but it won't count towards your calories as a separate exercise only the bike or running activity will count for this.

Thank you for your answer. Just wondering. Can you explain then, why it still counts the ghost steps it registered during biking in the daily-step-total? They're not a a part of the calories, and they weren't really steps either. Same counts for stairs, after half a hour I usually see it registered about 15 stairs (from air pressure and altitude changes I suppose).
