Got my first fitbit ever yesterday (versa) and I'm pretty bummed you can't turn bmr cals off all together (seriously how has this company been around for years and this isn't a feature?) but is there a way to change how they appear? It's frustrating to have them randomly trickle in over 24 hours because I actually have no idea what my active calories are throughout the day which was the point of buying the device. I'd rather at midnight it just clicked over and said 1,600 cals straight up.

@Frederickanne No. There's no way of doing that. And, one has to include BMR. But, I understand why you don't want to. You can simply calculate your BMR and subtract it from totals. Just use one of the online BMR calculators. Fitbit estimates BMR as well.

Yeah I know my bmr and it's accurate on the fitbit, but I can't just look at my watch and think 'oh it says 2000 cals atm so I've burnt 400 active cals today' because I haven't because theres no measurement for it randomly trickling bmr cals for some reason they can't even have two bars one with resting cals and one with active?? so I either have to pull up the chrome page and then go through and map it all myself or Calculate today's cals tomorrow everytime which to me personally renders the fitbit useless 🤷🏻:female_sign:

I was just about to suggest that you raise a feature suggestion but noticed you have already done so. I include a link to it here for those that stumble across this thread and agree with you:

You may also want to vote for the following one which suggests separating BMR and active calories rather than just turning off BMR. This seems to be a more flexible approach as it caters for those that need to incorporate BMR for their weight management program.

Thanks for providing the links @SteveH. I think the separation of the BMR and active calories is the best option as you suggested. I can completely understand why one would like that setup, and the more I think about it, the more I think it would be something that would interest me. So I've added my vote...

Fitbit HAS the information. Seeing activity calories was part of the Premium Trainer. I remember being on a plan to increase my activity calories over a 12 week plan.
@Frederickanne I think you should vote for the link provided by @SteveH. It has been around a while and has votes.

Thank you I did like the post you suggested however from the forums I can see this is something people have been heavily complaining about since 2015 so am not hopeful they will offer a solution anytime soon as fitbits answer is mostly 'bmr is important and we have no plans to change the current format'
I have contacted the store I got it from to return it and they have informed me unless it is broken they will not return it. So I'm now stuck with a $250 nothing machine that I have to try and sell on ebay. Overall not impressed by fitbit at all.

@Frederickanne How long ago did you get the tracker? There should be a return policy within a certain period of time...

@Marrrmaduke I got it 48 hours ago. I'm in aus and was very very much under the impression I could return within 30 days if there was an issue. I've never had a store tell me I can't do a return on a brand new item with full receipt and packaging 🤷🏻:female_sign:
