Hello everyone, recently I have decided to try to get back into shape. So I purchased the Fitbit Versa.
I am receiving emails, from Fitbit, encouraging me to download their swimming app to track my "laps". Quick read of the forums and you will find that this is a sure fire way to break it. Moderators quote "it is water resistant up to 50 meters". This statement confuses me. It is the definition of water-proof vs. water-resistant.
Would not the water-proof statement work better with the 50m? Or maybe if I were up on a mountain over 50m, then would the device stop repelling water? If the device, according to the Fitbit emails, can go into and be submersed under the water, would it not have to be water-proof? The 50m represents the depth it can successfully handle the pressure of the water at that depth. Water-resistance would signify water splashing it from rain, sweat, and possibly shower.
Would anyone agree with this statements? So my question to the moderator would be to explain the reference between the 50m and the water-resistance feature. Please don't guess, call them and ask them for an answer.

Hey @RONNYKRUZE, a warm welcome to the Community.
As you already mentioned, you can swim with your Versa without a problem up to 50 meters. Also, all Fitbit trackers and watches are water-resistant, which means they are rain-proof and splash-proof and can stand up to even the sweatiest workout. For more information check the help article Can I swim or shower with my Fitbit device?.
See you around.

Humm. So the versa is water proof up to 50 meters? Meaning it can be submerged in water, up to 50m, and that will not break it?

I swim laps with mine 4 days a week and have had no problem. It tracks swimming stats fairly well although I find it will occasionally lose a 25m length in a 1000m workout.
I have swam to the bottom of the pool (12 feet) with no problem as well. With regards to 50m I cannot say.
Also, I do soak in the hot tub after I swim laps but I have not submerged the watch in the hot tub at any point as I am unsure how the seal inside the unit will do in the heated water.
I hope this helps.
