Can I use my phone's bluetooth rather than wi-fi to connect the watch with the phone or mobile device?

The watch does connect to phone via bluetooth; that is how the phone keeps current with steps, calories, heart rate, etc.

But the it does need wi-fi to eventually sync and get the information to and from the main fitbit database.

 

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
