Can I use Versa 2 without the app and an account?

I know this is a help forum for Versa 3, but I have a question about Versa 2 and didn't see a separate product forum for the Versa 2, so I'm posting my question here.

Here's my situation. My dad bought me a Versa 2, and it just arrived in the mail today. My biggest concern with Fitbit is tracking. I know all companies say they are careful with user info, but I would hope to keep any companies from having access to my personal info at all, because in general I don't trust the security of any company to handle personal info. The most personal info that Fitbit has access to isn't even the health info. It's the location info that is most sensitive, point-by-point tracking of my location for every second it's running. I do not want people to know where I live, where I shop, where I work, and the routes I take to get to those locations. I want to keep all that location info, 100% confidential. And it isn't confidential if it ever gets sent over the internet, and from my understanding fitbit devices contain their own GPS receiver, as well as possibly the capability of establishing a wireless internet connection. At the very least though, they do have a bluetooth connection to the smartphone with the app, and the smartphone DOES contain both GPS and an internet connection. Now my instinct is just to ask my dad to return it, but he got it for me and I don't want to be rude, so I am trying to find a way of avoiding any tracking that the Versa 2 is capable of.

So my question is this. Can I use a Fitbit Versa 2 WITHOUT any user account with the Fitbit company, and have any info being stored only locally on my phone, or on the Versa 2 itself? Also, of instead configuring my weight, height, and age info on the website, can I configure that info (as well as manually set the current time) directly on the Versa 2 via its touchscreen and onscreen keyboard? And if that won't work, can I at least configure it on the phone app (which can communicate with the Versa via bluetooth) without having a Fitbit account set up? If that's not possible, can I at least disable all internet synchronization with the Fitbit company, after using my Fitbit account to initially set up my fitbit Versa 2 device? Could I even maybe delete my online account, once the Versa 2 has had its initial configuration?

I really only need to have it for an at-the-moment display of my heartbeat and other vital signs it monitors. I do not need for it to keep a log of any kind. I do not want it to keep a log, ESPECIALLY if that log is not stored locally on either the device or my phone, and instead is stored on Fitbit company servers. And the most important thing for me to avoid having your servers keep a log of, is my location data. If I could disable all location tracking on the Versa 2 I would, so please let me know if that's possible. Not only do I not need it to log my location, I don't even need it to know my current location. That's not part of the reason I would use it. I would be using it only for health related monitoring. And for keeping a log of my health info, if I decide to do that, is I can write the info on a sheet of paper, or type it into Notepad on my computer when I next have access to such paper or computer.

I have not yet created an account for me to use with my Versa 2. And yes, my internet anonymity is one of the most important things I try to protect. And yes, when I created this account here, just to get a chance to post to ask about this on the forum, I used 100% fake information. My personal info (name, height, weight, and birthdate) on this temporary account I made to get forum-posting access, are all fake info.

Hi @Videogamer Basically the answer is no. You need to set the device up before you can use it and to do that you need to use the Fitbit App. Once it is set up you can use it more or less independently but you would only be able to view today's stats, and not any stats that need input from the app. I am not sure exactly what would not be available to you but I think that many stats need input from the app as the fitbit only collect data - it doesn't do any analysis of the data. For example, sleep stats would not be available as that  needs input from the app. I loved my Versa 2 so personally I think it is worth having, but you will need to make your own decision on this.

I will move your post to the Versa 2 forum.
