Can I wear my Versa on my ankle?

Hello,

I appreciate that Fitbit watches are designed for the wrist and Fitbit do jot recommend ankle use! However, I work as a therapist in a hospital and therefore have to be bare below the elbow. Once I finish work at 16.30pm the watch will live on my wrist. However I am curious as to the watches accuracy on the ankle for my day time use? Particularly as I do such a physically intense job I am curious to monitor my HR and calorie burn through the day. I am not too bothered if my step count isn’t particularly accurate.

Anyone who has had any experience, or would be able to test out their Versa for me? It would be greatly appreciated!

Look forward to peoples feedback 🙂

A warm welcome to the Community @Ella93.

As you mentioned, Fitbit Versa was designed for you to wear it on your wrist. If you wear it in your ankle, it will be able to track your calories, steps, etc., but I don't think it would provide an accurate heart rate reading. If you really can't use it on your wrist, my recommendation if to put it inside a pocket.

Let me know if you need anything else. Woman Happy

Why did you suggest pocket vs ankle?

So are you saying that it will track your steps if you wear it on your ankle?  I am not really interested in the heart rate so much.  My goal is 20,000 steps per day.  I too can't wear it on my wrist and would prefer on my ankle as long as it is an accurate reading for steps.  thank you!

To the Ella and Jineen,

Why not wear one of the cheaper fitbit trackers as an anklet? Particularly as those will not have an HR tracker that you cannot take advantage of normally...

I mean, granted (ella) you'll wear it after work, it seems like you'd both be better off with a traditional watch and the cheaper, no-display tracker?  It'd boil down to how much use you'd actually get out of having a screen, notifications, and HR tracking...

Why would you suggest pocket over ankle? Wouldn’t the ankle provide more accurate step count? Mine is always on my ankle and gives a heart rate reading. I’m almost positive my pocket won’t have a heart rate. I’m just curious why it seems Fitbit is so anti-ankle despite the fact that many users find it more accurate, or at least HIGHER in step count. Thank you.

I have been wearing it on my ankle. I work in a surgery center... do not get a correct step count on my wrist as I may be pushing a litter... instrument cart or any other piece of equipment ... but I get a higher step bound on my ankle. Do not get active hours... although I know I get way over 250 steps/hour or heart rate... but my steps do count!!

I wear mine on my ankle quite a bit but higher up actually.. Using compression socks to hold it in place.  Heart rate, steps, floors all seem pretty reasonable.  I used to do the same with my ChargeHR.  I do a sport where things on my wrist will get hit and broken.  It does get a little more sweaty than on your wrist but the Versa is waterproof.  I'd actually hope one day Fitbit makes one just for the ankle.. I miss my old watch.
