As you can see in the responses to this thread, many healthy folk do not want to take their phones with them. That's the whole basis of this thread.
First of all, while running it's very inconvenient to have a phone with you. It's uncomfortable to hold something in your hands the entire time, and running shorts don't have pockets. Of course there are fanny packs, arm straps, and other products you can buy to hold your phone, but they are clumsy and most don't protect your phone from sweat.
Second of all, not everyone wants to be connected all the time. I appreciate that many people are addicted to technology, but don't make the mistake of thinking everyone is like that. In fact, one of the reasons many people enjoy talking long runs or walks is specifically to get away and be disconnected.

Yes, but I’m a Fitbit half full guy too. It would be great to have my music saved to the Fitbit, and I think Fitbit should have made it clearer in heir product info that personal music storage was being dropped, but I am now of the opinion that my good old charge 3 and my iPhone in my arm sleeve thingy is not that bad after all. I understand you disagree. Regards Des

Honestly this is a deal breaker for me. But unfortunately it was a gift from my girlfriend so I will be stuck with it for the time being. Why would they take a step back like this?

You can't store Spotify music on the watch currently. You can only control the app on your phone through the watch.

Well, this was a stupid surprise. I've been on Fitbit for a long time. I've always been pretty happy with their hardware. I know that it's not the best, but it's functional, and the cost is really good bang for the buck. So I decided that this was the year to upgrade. I can finally leave my phone at home, since the Versa 3 has both GPS and music storage.
I've been trying to get my MP3s on the phone for the last hour. I was using this as a guide:
https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2251.htm
I can't find the personal music app. And then I see that little asterisk at the top saying that the Versa 3 isn't supported. Why on Earth would you take away functionality like this?? I mean, I know that it's better for your bottom line to force people to pay for partner services, but this sucks. It makes you look like greedy corporate jerks. Not a good look.
What happened to "Don't be evil"? I guess it's finally time to start looking at upgrading to Garmen instead.

You can't. The feature wasn't carried over from the Versa 2.

Lurker is 100% correct. Fitbit decided that we can't use the internal space that we paid for unless we pay more for a subscription service. It's ridiculous that they REMOVED functionality with an updated piece of hardware.

I spent ages trying to decide which Fitbit to get and it definitely said on the produce page that the Versa 3 could save your own music onto it which is specifically why I bought it. I've had it three days and am just getting around to trying to do just that and find I can't! Really poor clarity of what you can and can't do from Fitbit's side here. So disappointed. The whole point was not bringing my phone out on a run with me!

I agree. I purchased this hoping for it to replace my ionic. My 13 year old son has the versa 2. The features are listed the same in the Versa 2 and the Versa 3. But it does not download personal music. Bull**ahem**. I regret purchasing this watch. The YMCA that I lift weights in, places that I mountain bike and run all have dead spots where I lose my streaming music. I need to play my downloaded music.

This is terrible. Had I known I couldn't store music on my Versa3 I wouldn't have purchased it. I had music on my Versa 2 for 30 months, but the battery only lasted a day or two at this point and I needed to upgrade.

Lack of music storage is a big downside. I chose the Ionic partly because it had music storage, and now that the Ionic has been recalled it looks like I'm stuck for a replacement. I don't have and don't want music streaming services, I just want to play the music I already have.

Can't put music on it or download Spotify. Why do I want to pay for yet another music service when I already have Spotify and Amazon music? This was bought as a present, if I had known it didn't support music other than Deezer I would have got an oppo watch instead.
