Fitbit Update: 6/5
Hey there, Versa Fam!
Thanks so much for your patience with this issue of clearing notifications from the watch. Our team has identified a fix for this that will release in a future firmware update.
I'm not sure when the next firmware update will be rolled out, just know it should include the fix for this. In the meantime, please give your Versa a restart if you have trouble "clearing all" the notifications off. After the restart, your notifications will be gone.
Fitbit Update: 2/27
Hi everyone!
I just wanted to follow-up with you all that have come across any difficulty clearing notifications on their Versa. I've experienced this myself a few times and a restart has always resolved the problem. Please give the watch a restart as your go-to troubleshooting step.
Our team is aware of this ongoing problem and working on a permanent fix. Please stay subscribed to this thread for future updates on this topic.

@sheltie8 how did that happen? Did you receive a firmware update for the Versa? Or are you talking about notifications on the phone app?

Fitbit seems to have solved the problem of not clearing notifications on the Versa for a few of us. It has simply stopped sending them through at all! Not the solution I was hoping for...

Both notification problems are cache related issues.
On the versa the notifications can be cleared by restarting your watch
On the app restarting app has no effect as the app cache is not cleared.
Both problems have existed for months in fact the app problem has existed unresolved for years!
Fitbits implied solution is buy a versa 2 as they are not working on software issues on earlier products.
Needless to say my next watch will not be a Fitbit

Fixed properly for me. No notifications at all on the Versa. So none to clear. Phone calls ring on it. That's all. Great! NOT!
I gather the rest of you are still getting notifications from your other apps (not just Fitbit notifications which cause the red dots) on the Versa itself?

When I get notification I can't clear it is never all notifications I might have 10 notifications on versa from different sources when I do a "clear all" 9 say will clear leaving 1 stuck that cannot be cleared its same with the app most clear but a few remain. The red spot it not an issue as I have turned fitbit red spots off in my launcher so you only know there are notifications when you look at messages - notifications in app.
Is this the same for everybody?

Hi, I've tried restarting multiple times now but the notifications are still not getting cleared from the watch drop down. Is there another troubleshooting step that has worked for anyone else?

When you say restarted do you mean restart app on phone or watch. You can only clear watch notifications by restarting watch not app
09-11-2019 04:14
09-11-2019 04:14
The watch then clear notifications

Shutting down watch and turning watch back on has always fixed it for me. I hope I am not going to get your problem I've got enough other reliability issues!!!

I've deleted and reinstalled the app on my iPhone; and shut down/restarted my Versa Lite ... notifications from June 15th to May 1st are still on my phone taking up space. The app is up to date. My home computer and watch don't show this list of notifications - just my phone app. I really would like them gone. Thanks.

And this thread is just for the watch notifications. There is another thread for the phone app.

I suggest you look back through history for FitBit APP problems. It seems clearing Versa Notifications issues and fixes is divided into WATCH and APP help sections.
Here’s a summary of past solutions that have worked for most people:
For example, clearing notifications on the WATCH is fixed by swiping LEFT on the watch face to “Settings”
Tap “Settings” then swipe UP to get to “About”
Tap “About”, and at the bottom of the list starting with “Version” tap “Shutdown”
At the prompt “Shutdown - Do you want to Shutdown?” NO YES. Tap on the YES box.
After the watch shuts down, press the left watch button until you get the Fitbit startup symbol.
When the watch is restarted, and your watch face appears, swipe DOWN.
You should get the message “Nothing new here You’re all caught up”
Note: To prevent future WATCH Notification problems, DO NOT clear Notifications on your PHONE. If you do this, your WATCH notification clearing problem will COME BACK.
All I know about FitBit APP notifications problems is people were getting notification Badge Flags in the upper right corner of the Fitbit App on your phone display. Most people resolved this by changing Notification settings for the Fitbit app to turn off BADGES. For some reason, I don’t have this problem on my iPhone, and have ALL notifications turned ON.
For problems in which you don’t receive ANY notifications from your PHONE to the WATCH, I just shut off and restarted my iPhone. Then I got a lot of notifications at once. I never had a problem of not getting notifications on my watch again.
However, having stuck notifications on my phone recurred fairly often, possibly because I frequently don’t clear notifications on my phone. I understand the phone can accumulate 30 notifications, but don’t know if that actually causes a recurrence of the failure to clear notifications.
Good luck!

As I had said many times before both are cache problems.
Everyone knows you can clear watch notifications by restarting watch - this clears cache.
You should not need to clear notifications on watch first when things are working correctly clearing notifications on phone will clear notifications on watch. You can get situations when you clear notifications on watch and they reappear again then sometimes stick.
IT'S A BUG BEEN THERE MONTHS AND FITBIT ARE NOT ABLE OR WILLING TO FIX IT!
The app notifications is also a bug if you look at the cache files in the app the folder cache_vts_co...ile_default.0 is much larger on android phones which have stuck notifications.
Is an one bold enough to delete it?
