Fitbit Update: 6/5

Hey there, Versa Fam!

Thanks so much for your patience with this issue of clearing notifications from the watch. Our team has identified a fix for this that will release in a future firmware update.

I'm not sure when the next firmware update will be rolled out, just know it should include the fix for this. In the meantime, please give your Versa a restart if you have trouble "clearing all" the notifications off. After the restart, your notifications will be gone.

Fitbit Update: 2/27

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to follow-up with you all that have come across any difficulty clearing notifications on their Versa. I've experienced this myself a few times and a restart has always resolved the problem. Please give the watch a restart as your go-to troubleshooting step.

Our team is aware of this ongoing problem and working on a permanent fix. Please stay subscribed to this thread for future updates on this topic.

But this issue is unrelated to the phone app. It's not notifications on the app involved, but notifications on the Versa device. No uninstalling and reinstalling the app on the phone will change the notification issue on the watch itself.

What's strange though is I think this may be working for me now 🙂 It just occurred to me that I've not seen the issue for a couple of days so I tried creating a few notifications then dismissing them on the phone rather than on the Versa which is what usually causes the problem. As soon as I do, I see the You're All Caught Up on the Versa now.

There's not been a firmware update but there was a recent app update but it just says Bug Fixes listed in the change log...

But it did work so I will stick with this until Fitbit solve it completly

So you are talking about the notifications on the Versa itself? Not on the app?

Best Answer

the problem I was having was with notifications on the Versa. If I dismissed them on the phone rather than on the watch then they would stay on the watch even if I tried to clear them or selected Clear All (on the watch). Seems to be working again for now though which is the first time it's worked since I bought it a couple of months back.

But it did work so I will stick with this until Fitbit solve it completly. As the notification on the watch wasn't coming through until I reinstalled the app on the phone so obviously there is a link as now I get all my messages and emails straight through to the watch and will probably continue for 2 to 3 days as usual

Interesting!  My Versa SE (Special Edition) had been clearing notifications on the watch perfectly for a couple of months. Then, after seeing your post regarding deleting posts on my iPhone rather than on the Versa, I tried deleting a post on the phone rather than the Versa and VOILA! Several posts would not clear from the Versa!  Therefore a reproducible flaw! I went into settings on the Versa, then to About, then to “Shutdown”. After restarting the Versa, notifications were properly cleared again!

Thanks to all for helping to better clarify  this problem. Now we need a real fix!

if you liked this post, give it a thumbs up!

So... last updated in May, we are now reaching August.

It's been months since any sort of firmware/OS update.

Every day it gets harder to give your team the benefit of the doubt, at this point I don't expect this to be fixed, ever...

Guess the best solution currently is just to turn off notifications?

I had this recurring problem in the past and I just needed to shutdown the device every now and then.

Since I have started doing this, I have never encountered this problem again. I try to do so every other week.

Hope it helps!

Yea tried that no luck. Since I first posted this Fitbit have told me that out of all the OnePlus phones only OnePlus one is compatible so nothing I can do about it unless I change my phone

Yep I agree that seems to be the opinion of Fitbit as well as I own a OnePlus 3T phone and this is not supported by Fitbit in fact the only one that is, is the OnePlus One

I have a OnePlus 5T, didn't realise the model I have could be the issue.

Yes. If you look in the list of supported phones only the OnePlus one has been shown to work with the watch officially, this was confirmed to me when I contacted Fitbit and asked directly about this

Hi Elliekennard,

You cannot dismiss problems with the fitbit app on your phone for failure to clear notifications on your watch. All communication between watch and phone and watch and fitbit account is controlled by the fitbit app. If you restart your watch and you have cleared notifications on your phone, your watch will clear cache and no notifications will be downloaded via app to watch.

This is crazy that no one can get rid of these notifications.  Here is what I have : a pink dot on my INBOX showing there are notifications

when I click on it I get a list of notifications telling me Things like “good job you almost made your goal...” HOWEVER the last one was in April and there is no way to delete these from the iPhone Fitbit app.  USELESS and FRUSTRATING.

i have shutdown, restarted, etc.  how do you clear these out!  Getting encourage today would be helpful.  Encouraging words from APRIL, not so much.  And I was going to attach screen shots of what I am

referring to...which seems

like it would be incredibly helpful since so many answers are not even addressing the question asked...but apparently the camera icon above is NOT for adding a photo....argh

Fit bit app - Versa

@KPrih

That's not what this post is about.

It's about app notifications that are sent through to your Versa from your mail, Twitter, etc etc that remain on your Vista though you have cleared them on it already.

You have a different issue that concerns Fitbit notifications on the app.

We are divided either side of the Atlantic by a common language.

As I said in my earlier post all communication is handled by the fitbit app in your phone it does not matter where the notification came from if your phone is not communicating effectively with your watch you will not be able to delete notification from either phone or watch.

I have had instances when I have deleted a notification on my versa and it has reappeared presumably because the fitbit app has resent it.

@silvermetis

This has nothing to do with the sides of the Atlantic (I am fluent in both).

The red dot on the app, showing a Fitbit notification (message relating to fitbit) which cannot be cleared is a different issue. There is a thread dealing directly with that issue.

This issue is for when your Versa has notifications on it (an email, a text, etc) and they cannot be cleared on the watch. This does not produce a red dot on the app.

Hi Elliekennard,

I think you must be confusing me with someone else.

I have never mentioned red spots, I don't have red spots the last time I had red spots was when I had childhood diseases!

If I did get red spots I would see a doctor or delete them in my android launcher (nova)
