Can't listen to Spotify music on Versa 2 without my phone

Bought versa 2...wife wanted to listen to music whilst out walking..now find out it's impossible to do!  Have spotify on phone "but can only use on Watch if phone is nearby" online!

What is the good of that, if the phone is nearby why would she bother with the Watch??

I would add, we don't have a computer only an iPad. 

About to cancel Spotify..useless!

Just use the fitbit as a watch and exercise. Which we could have got on a far cheaper Watch.

Not impressed.!

As you have mentioned, with Versa 2 you can only use the Spotify app to control the music playing in the Spotify on your phone or other Spotify Connect device. For more information, see How do I control music playing on Spotify?

To use Spotify, note the following requirements:

• The Spotify app on your Fitbit device doesn’t support offline music playback, so your paired phone must remain nearby with the Fitbit app running in the background and connected to the internet.
• A Spotify Premium subscription is required. For information on Spotify Premium, see spotify.com.
• You must have the Spotify app open on the device playing music. For more information on Spotify Connect, see spotify.com.

Thank you, although never quite get a proper answer...I still don't know
why you would use the Watch when you have a phone nearby..it's another 'add
on' that isn't needed!

Why would we change the source to the watch if we can’t use wi fi from the app on the watch and have to be near the phone anyway? I don’t have pockets and want to keep my phone locked  in my locker at the gym!

HI @Sarahloki - the Versa 2 had the ability to load music on the watch, which was removed in October 2022, though if you loaded music prior to that you can still play the music

No Fitbit watches use wifi to play music.

Hi @Victor49 - as mentioned here, you can use the watch to play music from it, if it has it loaded, then you don't need the phone nearby.
