Can't open text messages on my Versa 2

I have a Versa 2 and a Samsung 9 and cannot open my text messages and when I push open it says, "action failed" Does anyone know why this is happening and how I fix it?

Hi @crwsly and welcome to the forums! Your phone is on the list of supported devices but please check to make sure it has been updated to the required Android OS 7.0 or higher. If it’s ok, then check out these trouble shooting tips.
