Can't read messages on Versa 2

I can't read messages on versa 2 unless I enable preview message. But I dont want the because then you can see the message on my phone. How can I fix this so I can see it on my versa

I have an Android too with the "Preview Messages" option on too. I've never had it open fully on my phone unless I instruct it to. Maybe you should give it a shot?
