Can't receive email notifications on my Versa 3

Have barely had the Versa 3 for a week.  For some reason I am able to receive text messages on the phone; but, not emails.  I send a test email and to no avail, do not receive notification alert and my phone settings are correct. If i am able to receive a test text message, then the email should work all the same.  I am using a Moto G Pure.

Hi @JeanYvon some android phones come with more than one email program, plus it is easy to add another. Have you checked for the right app is selected? 

Do you get these notifications popup on your phone while the phone is locked?
