Can't see my sleep data in Fitbit Today on Fitbit Versa

I'm reading some articles on my new Fitbit Versa and came across this snippet:

Note that you can also see your sleep data in Fitbit Today on Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa:

  1. After syncing your watch with the Fitbit app, swipe up from the clock face to see Fitbit Today.
  2. Check the sleep tile to see your sleep information. You may have to swipe up to find it. If you don’t see the sleep tile, tap Settings at the bottom of Fitbit Today and make sure the sleep tile is turned on.
  3. Swipe left on the sleep tile to see the time spent in each sleep stage and your sleep history for the past week.

I do not see the sleep tile in my "Fitbit Today" so I went to Settings to add it. When I get there, it says I can add up to 7 stats to Fitbit Today.  I currently have Core Stats, Hourly Steps, Heart Rate, and Cycle Track checked (that's 4, by my count).  There aren't any other options in the list for me to add.  Sleep is not there for me to add.  How do I add Sleep to my Fitbit Today?  I sync with an iPhoneX.  Thanks in advance for your help.

I ended up chatting with Fitbit Support to get this issue resolved.  Here's what we did.  1. We went into the Today app via my phone.  He asked me to see if there were any updates pending / available for the Today app.  There were not any updates available.  2.  Then he had me restart my Fitbit Versa (press left button and bottom right button simultaneously until Fitbit icon showed on screen).  3.  When I went into my Fitbit Today app on the Versa after that, the Sleep tile was in there.   And when I went to Settings, there were other options for me to choose from as well (e.g., Food, Water, etc).  Hope this helps someone else.

In the Fitbit app click on the tracker icon, then apps and scroll down to "Today". If you see an update option, do it. If not, tap on the Tracker app anyway. It should tell you if it is up to date. Then back out of the whole app and reboot the phone. That seemed to work for me to get the water function working.

Thank you for the suggestion.  From what I can tell, the Fitbit Today app is up-to-date (last updated 12/19/2018).  I continued on with the suggestions you made, but unfortunately, I'm still not seeing "Sleep" as an option to add to "Fitbit Today."  Still only seeing the four I originally mentioned, which are already showing in my Fitbit Today.

I seem to be facing the same issue. Is yours resolved yet? And if so, how did you go about doing it? Thanks

I was able to resolve my issue.  Are you able to see the whole post / thread on the Fitbit Community?  I posted my solution there on 1/1/19.  If you try that on your own and it doesn't work for you, I would call Fitbit Customer Service.  They are very friendly and helpful.  To save you some trouble, here is a copy / paste of the solution I posted to the Community on 1/1/19:  I ended up chatting with Fitbit Support to get this issue resolved.  Here's what we did.  1. Hi!

I have done the reset on my Versa as you have suggested and initially it did not display the sleep data on my Today page. So I went about logging in manually through the app before I slept, and woke up today with the sleep data being shown on the Today page.

The only problem now is that it's only tracking my basic sleep pattern (that too I feel is because I logged in manually via the app) and not logging in other details such as REM sleep, etc.

Been on other threads in our community here and it seems like a lot of us are having the exact issue. How is it for you?

Thanks!

I can see phases of sleep on my Fitbit Versa, as well as through my app.  My first Fitbit was a Charge 2 and when I first got it, I would use my app to start "sleep" when I would get in bed.  It would only show basic sleep when I woke up in the morning.  I was so disappointed b/c I was really looking forward to seeing detailed sleep data.  This went on for a week or two, I think.  Then I read an article that said it was best not to set "sleep" manually, but to just climb in bed and let Fitbit do the detecting.  😉  So, I stopped setting it manually and climbed into bed without doing anything with my Fitbit or the app.  Lo & behold, I started seeing detailed sleep views.  On occasion, I'll still get a basic sleep data when I wake up, but it's pretty rare.

How does one do this?

1. Open the Fitbit app on your phone.

2. Touch the little icon in the upper right corner that looks like a business card.

3. Select "Versa" from the list that appears.

4. Select the square that says "Apps."

5. There is a toggle switch at the top which should be set to show you "My Apps."  Select "Today."

6. Scroll down a bit to see "App Details."  Here it should show you when the Today App was last updated, Version, etc.  In my case, I was on the phone with Customer Support when I was doing this.  So, they had knowledge about which Version was most current.

Great.  Thanks.  Never been there before.  My issue is the sleep page has always been on my watch but rarely populated with stats.  Didn't seem to matter what I did, the blanks would never populate.  Once in a great while they might, including just now (of course, hah).

It's frustrating when things don't work as designed.  Hope you get it figured out.  🙂

I also do not see any sleep app!  Only the 4 mentioned, and I restarted it.  Just got the Fitbit Lite today and I don't see any way to look at sleep stats.

I have the same thing. The sleep data on my watch is all dashes no numbers. I can't figure out how to get it to show the data.

Me also, no sleep details available tried uninstalling app but no good. Have they put it behind a paywall now?. Wish I’d bought an Apple Watch now.
