Can’t set up Fitbit connect on MacBook for my Versa

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I can’t upload music to my versa! Somebody please help. I have downloaded the Fitbit connect app but I can’t even get past the set up! I try to add my Versa through the main menu. I login which is fine but then it asks “Which Fitbit tracker are you setting up?” And it gives me the options for everything except ionic, versa, aria 2, and ace. It says regarding those that they are “mobile setup only”. Yet every singnke instruction manual that tells you how to download music onto your Fitbit says to follow the steps to set up Fitbit connect on your computer. I have no other options. It won’t  let me move forward unless I pick a tracker device. But versa isn’t a valid option. What the heck am i supposed to do here?

Is your Versa fully updated and activated through your Fitbit app on your phone? That's where you add the Versa to your account. Only after you have it fully updated and activated can you add music.

Yes. Everything is fully updated and activated. Through my Fitbit app on my phone. I have already added my versa to my account. I can’t upload any music to it unles I have the fitbit connect app on my computer. Which I have but it won’t let me do anything or navigate anywhere.

@SunsetRunner,  Have you read this Help article?

https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2251#Delete

I wonder if you can go in to see what is taking up space on your Versa.  Check out the section on deleting playlists and see if you can get into the watch to view what's there.

Well, I had the same problem.  It turned out that it was a wifi issue.  I thought that the versa would connect with whatever wifi my phone was on.. but that isn't the case.  You have to enter each wifi into the settings of the fitbit app on your phone.  Anyhow, your versa needs to be connected to the same wifi network as your computer.  To check if this is setup correctly, you can go to https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2233 and follow those directions.

You need to do things differently. If you want to download the songs to your watch, which as you mentioned is already connected to your account via the phone, you don't need to use "Setup a Device" because it's already setup.

Instead, look for the option in the main menu that says "Manage my Music." If you don't see that in Fitbit Connect that means that you need to update it.

To update it, click where it says Troubleshooting (main menu) > Check for updates.

Once you have "Manage my Music" there and you click on it, follow the instructions for Mac that Fitbit took the time to add here. Keep in mind that you need to have the computer and the watch on the same network beforehand because there's no way to connect to the network using the computer.

THIS!!!

I don't know if its how you worded it/explained it... but it made complete sense to me. After about 45min of googling and squawking at my iMac, this finally allowed me to start transferring tunes to my Versa.

I couldn't get past the "existing user --> setup device" situation above. It didn't even occur to me that since I was logging into my personal fitbit account, that my versa would already be set up (because it is set up on my android phone). Once I opened the wifi settings on my fitbit PHONE app and got that connected, the music transfer just started up!

PERFECT! I'm definitely going to give it a trial run before organizing a few playlists to transfer. I'm so grateful because I just treated myself to bluetooth headphones to use with the versa (instead of carrying an old iPod around with me at the gym).

THANK YOUUUU!!!

I am having the hardest time uploading music from the Fitbit Connect App on my Mac to the Versa. I was able to do it once, but wanted to remove a playlist. The app won’t go past the window to select playlists and my phone is connected and ready for transfer. This app really needs some work because it is horribly slow. I had to do a factory restore on the Versa to get rid of the music as I thought this would help. Nothing. I’m so frustrated! I have tried every step in the customer support blog. What is going on?

I am having the exact same problem. Have you gotten it figured out?

Yes. Apparently you need to connect via your phone (like make sure you're
fitbit is connected on the phone app.. I have a Samsung phone). Then
download the fitbit for mac app and kind of just skip over the step that
has you select which fitbit you have (bc versa isn't in the list). You are
already connected via your phone.. so as long as your phone and Mac are on
the same wifi, it should work out 🙂

Hope that helps!

Thanks for trying but nope! My phone, Fitbit, and computer are all on the same wifi and it won’t let me skip the device setup part

Hi,

I'm having the same issue. Fitbit mac app doesn't recognize my fitbit versa (there's no versa option) and I wanted to transfer music. Mac, Mobile and fitbit versa are on the same wifi.

Do you have any tips?

Many thanks!
