Can't setup Versa on acc. email already in used

I received a fitbit gift 4 years ago, used it fir about a year, it broke and i threw it away. i did not find ita very good product. now i get a new Versa for a gift when i try to set it up I am informed that my email address is already taken by another account. one hour on this site and i can not find how to fix this. it seems i am about to be unimpressed with fitbit again. anybody have any ideas?

You have 2 choices. Either sign in with your old account (if you remember the password) or create a new account using a different email address. Only allowing 1 account per email address is standard practice.

@edcarney A warm welcome to our Community! Adding to @SunsetRunner explanation. Your email most likely shows as being used as it could be the same one you used years ago with your previous Fitbit device. You will need to log into that account (you can retrieve your password here) or use a different email address to create a new account and setup your Versa.

Simply put, since your email is already connected to a Fitbit account, you want to sign in rather than sign up.
