Can't transfer music to my Versa

I finally figured out how to put music on my watch! I opened up the app, added a ton of songs from my own personal library. As soon as I dragged and dropped the songs a red error came up saying the file type was not supported. If MP3 files don’t work, what file types do work?

So frustrated maybe I should’ve been more open to the Apple Watch instead of insisting in Fitbit.

Hey @EmmasMom, it's great to welcome you.

Thanks for troubleshooting this by yourself. If you are having issues transferring music to your Versa, I recommend taking a look at the help article Why can't I download music and podcasts to my Fitbit watch? and follow the instructions provide there.

Let me know the outcome. Robot Happy

I did already. Why won’t my MP3’s transfer, do the songs need to be another file type?

Thanks for the getting back @EmmasMom.

Regarding your inquiry, the music and podcast file types you can download to your watch depend on whether you use a PC or a Mac. Note that some older songs may not transfer due to copyright protections (known as DRM encryption).

PC:

  • MP3 files
  • MP4 files with AAC audio
  • WMA files

For more information take a look at the help article How do I listen to music and podcasts on my Fitbit watch?.

Keep the stepping up! Smiley Happy

@EmmasMom, I had the exact same issue, that many of my mp3s were "unsupported file type". And I too initially regretted getting my Versa instead of something else! But I figured it out. The Versa does not support variable bit rate mp3s, so all of my new ones that I didn't rip from CDs myself, but converted with a converter from m4a to mp3 (ones I bought and coverted from itunes), were saved as variable bit rate. I downloaded another small utility (MP3 Quality Modifier) and converted them all to constant bit rate mp3s (frequency 44,100, bit rates ranged from 192 to 256), and they were now a supported file type after and I was able to transfer them.
