Can’t turn off “Enable Location Services”

Every single time I open the Fitbit app on my iphone I get a pop up notification telling me

Enable Location Services

Turn on Location Services to track your exercise with GPS.

Even after I select “No Thanks,” it comes up CONTINUOUSLY, regardless of whether I close the app or leave it open in the background... the second I toggle back to the app from another, it’s there.

All of the privacy settings on my phone and location settings specifically within the app are always set to Off and Never. All software is up to date.

I’ve tried all the suggestions from other threads concerning this and nothing has changed, it’s driving me absolutely crazy. It’s gotten to the point where I just stop using the app for days at a time because I don’t want to deal with it.

Hi @devkellee, welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for trying some troubleshooting steps before posting over here, I understand how frustrating this matter can be for you. If you haven't already done so, please check all the information that's specified on our help article: Why is the Fitbit app prompting me to turn on location services? and let me know if you have any additional questions.

I'll be around.

I don’t have an Android and my Fitbit syncs fine to my iPhone without any location services being turned on. I just want to stop receiving the incessant pop ups each time I enter the app after having already declined them multiple, multiple times. Literally if I switch to a different app and then right back to Fitbit without even fully quitting out, the same pop up I just declined comes right back.

My understanding is that fitbit knows this is a problem and isn’t doing anything about it because they want more data from us to likely sell or otherwise profit on what little privacy we have left. I’ve used my versa for a long time and had no problem until recently. I just jclicked no thanks to enable location services and moved on. Now it basically shuts down my app. It just keeps flashing with no end. I called and was told that I needed to enable location services for the data to be accurate. I’ve been relying on the data for years without issue and haven’t enabled location services at any point. Again, this is a ploy in my opinion to get more data from us for profit. I’m about to move companies. If Fitbit doesn’t care about customers, I can spend my money elsewhere. Don’t tell me this is necessary for the product to be useable when that’s a lie.
