My dad wants a wristbased heartrate monitor with visible clock (time/date) and stopwatch capability. However, he’s not interested in most of the tracking features associated with the app - other than initial setup, does he need to use the app?

Hi, @Lguerette! You can definitely use it without the app. Your functionality would be a little limited, since you can only see instantaneous information for some things, like heart rate, but in general there is no issue. You can also sync for him when you see him. That's pretty much how my mother uses her tracker.
