Cannot sync child’s Versa 3 to adult Google account

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My 12 year old has a Versa 3 and we are trying to move to a Google account and connect his existing email.
Despite having a Google family account, when trying to create it my son’s account is not coming up as an option and only gives the option to create a new account (my daughter comes up though). Any tips?
From research it looks like due to age I might have to create a dummy Google for him? Thanks.

Hello @CalKip and welcome to the Community.  I'm sorry, but you can't set up a Versa 3 for a 12 year old.  Fitbit's personal data collection must be compliant with children's internet privacy protection laws.  You only see Ace models, because the Ace series stores data different from the other models.  The Ace series is compliant with these privacy protection laws.  Other models like the Versa, Sense, Charge, Inspire, etc., aren't.

The way I understand it, it is a violation of the Terms of Service to create a dummy account.

Thanks for the feedback. He used to use his dad’s old watch which is why we upgraded him - did not even think there would be an issue with age. Will look into some work arounds.

Cheers!

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @CalKip. Thanks for sharing your son's Versa 3 syncing query. I'll be glad to assist.

As @LZeeW mentioned, children's Internet Privacy Protection Laws don't allow a child under 13 (depending on the location) having a Versa 3. You can try getting one of the Ace series tracker for him or waiting until he turns 13 years old.

Have a wonderful day.

@AndreaFitbit My child is 13 and the Versa 3 still won't connect to her phone - same issue as above user, despite the fact she's over 13. She's on a managed account and her birthdate is correct. How can we get this worked out?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @ebaileyrex. I'm sorry to hear that your daughter is 13 years old and can't connect her Versa 3 to her account.

Did she recently turn 13? Where are you located? She had to get an email in order to be able to make the change. If she didn't receive the email, please check  the spam and junk folders.
