Clock face change color on phone but doesn't on watch

I download some free faces just to play around on my new Versa Lite edition. Some of these watch faces allow you to go into settings and change the color of the text for the face. It did work then stopped so I reset my watch thinking user error and it downloaded the latest update (new) 38.70.8.0 now I can change the color in the Fitbit app and click done but the face on the watch doesn't change. Any idea if this is software or user error? I am new to Fitbit and so far I love it. If it is user error can someone please explain what I am doing wrong? I love the new software update it is better than the one I had a couple of days ago when I first set up the watch.
