Clock face switches to digital

Hi.  I want the Sundial clock face to stay on my wrist all the time.  I have set my Fitbit for always-on clock face.  But, Sundial only replaces the digital clock when I tap the screen.  The rest of the time, the display reverts back to a digital watch which I don't want since I'm at work.

I tried going into the app and "installing" Sundial (which was already there, out of the box) but the analog still wont stay on, and the display keeps switching back to digital after about 5 seconds.

Help?

Hello. There is nothing wrong with your watch (no need to restart).

Unfortunately, the always-on clock face mode can only display a basic clock face and not the clock face you choose (Sundial, in your case). This is something Fitbit definitely should have made more clear.

You can set up the always-on clock to be an analog face instead of digital. I made a video for how to customize the always-on clock face that you can watch here: https://youtu.be/0-iEHodfVrg

That appears to be a third party Clock Face so you need to contact the developer. You will find that contact at the bottom of your Clock Face details.

hi - I don't think it's a third party face.  Under "clock details," it says "offered by: Fitbit" and it was the operative clock face the very first time I turned the device on, right out of the box (new) last week.  I've never installed 3P software.

Any other suggestions?

Yes.  Try a Restart and do it several times if necessary.

Thanks ... yes, this is definitely something that Fitbit should have made clear, as this was a key feature for me.  I appreciate your help!

This is another annoying thing about this watch.  Along with message+ not being able to be read on the watch.  I downloaded a cool watch face but it goes away after 10 seconds to the stock analog!!!!  Uugh I'm very frustrated.

I'm happy to report that the most recent firmware update fixed this
issue for me. My preferred watch face, Sundial, now stays "always on"
as one would expect.
In fact I have already gotten a compliment that it looks nice!

Hopefully the firmware upgrade will work for you?

Thank you.  What was the update and where did you get it from?

When you open the Fitbit app on your phone, there should be a banner telling you that an update is available for your watch.  (For me, it was in the same spot where fitness suggestions and ideas usually appear: top of home page).

From there, it's just a matter of making sure you're connected to wifi, then tell it to go ahead and update.

I didn't have to change any settings after.  There seem to be other modest improvements to the watch interface as well, such as certain things being brighter than before when I'm actively using the watch.

Good luck.

This is very disappointing as it was the reason I even bought this. I am a nurse and I need to have a second hand for many things throughout the day. I hope Fitbit fixes this quickly!

It appears my Versa 2 somehow switched itself to Always On!  Your post helped me discover that fact.
