Confused - does my Versa (not Special edition) has Fitbit Pay chip by accident?

So I just went through manual of Versa, and when I got to section about Wallet and Fitbit Pay, I saw indications that Versa which would have Fitbit Pay option would have it written on back of device.

So - mine does have it! However I purchased simple Versa. How is that possible?

Does my Versa has Fitbit Pay chip by accident or it's just some random mistake of writing it on device?

Note: first thing I did when got Versa - deleted Wallet app from device, given the fact that I purchased simple Versa no Special edition, didn't think I would use it.

Any of you having simple Versa has writing - Fitbit Pay on back of device???

It depends where you are.

In the Americas only the special edition has the NFC chip to support fitbit pay but outside the America both the special edition and standard edition have the chip.

Gulp! That would be a big mistake on Fitbits end.

i guess One way to find out if you do is go onto your Fitbit app on your Phone select your versa then select wallet.  If your able to add payment details then I guess it would appear you do have Fitbit pay.  You will also have wallet on your watch

Oh wow really. But then that would mean Fitbit pay is available on a normal Fitbit in the UK.  Right?

Wow that’s not ok I’m UK based and I paid more to have Fitbit pay which was meant to be exclusive to the special edition. I am taking to Twitter. Not a happy bunny

All Fitbit Versa in EU has NFC. The only difference in special edition vs normal is the color of the case and the woven band.

US versions, only SE has NFC. This is because NFC payments are more popular in EU so that is more desicion maker factor for possible buyers.

You’d think they’d make that clear in their videos advertisements which they show on their UK site

@lexi83 I actually checked out link and video you're talking about and you're right! that video clearly states there that Fitbit Pay Is available only on SE!!!!

I have to mention that before purchasing Versa, I could not decide to go for simple or SE, so I contacted Fitbit Support, asking if my banks would be included (I have 2 banks that are listed in other countries, I was asking about my country), to make my choice for SE or simple Versa.

I also contacted my banks directly, who said they don't know if their cards are working with specific Fitbit app, but they have many NFC payment possibilities, so I made my decision and purchased simple one for now, thankfully.

And in no moment Support from Fitbit said anything about SE/simple Versa both having NFC making my decision based only on that unnecessary. It somehow had skipped my attention also (small letters in specifics), that NFC would be in all European Versa watches, based on exact same video you posted on EU website.

I'd say the least (if not misleading) inconsistent information on Fitbit website (NFC in simple Versa appears mentioned only under Specs when you actually click buy and pass to store).

Totally agree with you. It’s ridiculous. I’m challenging them about it as it misinforms UK customers that advertisement.  It should not be on Fitbit sites that it does not apply to. It’s misleading.

I purchased one from Airmiles Rewards program (I'm in Canada) and was also shocked that it asked me to set up my wallet. It does indicate on the back that it does have fitbit pay. Airmiles must get European devices. Bonus for sure.
