Connected GPS not staying connected at all!

I'm having a lot of trouble with connected GPS. It connects at the beginning of the activity but soon gets disconnected and does not connect ever again making this feature completely unusable!

 Take a look at this screenshot for example. I walked around for about 6 km today but it only tracked GPS for less than 1 km. Before this I was tracking for 2 km and I had issues with GPS then as well. So I restarted my Versa and my phone hoping that will fix it. But sadly it didn't!!

 

What should I do to fix this? I'm really frustrated at this point.

 

My phone is a Pixel 2 running Android 8.1.0.

Now that I've been doing more digging on this forum, it appears that this is a pretty significant flaw in the Versa! Lots of people experiencing similar issue as me where the Versa connects to GPS for a few minutes after which it forever stays in "connecting..." status. 

 

Such a shame! My Fitbit Blaze used to do this flawlessly and had no issues with GPS. Fitbit is slipping... Struggling to do things that it mastered two years ago.

did you ever find a solution or did you give up - mine is a new Versa 2, but i struggle to get it to connect to GPS which affects the upload of my exercise to Strava - basically the reason i got it....grrrr!!
