This is when I go to the settings on my phone and connect and it says needs a app to connect when I have the fit bit app

See the directions step by step and be sure you haven't left one out. What operating system is your phone? Android has to be a minimum of 8 and iOS is 12.

@Jessicavore - it could be a problem if the Bluetooth on the old phone is still on, it's needs to be off, and any other devices.
Shutdown the watch from the Settings menu, restart the S21 phone and then place the watch on the charger. To start it and charge it.
Open the Fitbit App on the phone and click profile photo and " + Set up a device" and see if that helps.

I have the S10. Assuming your watch is already connected to your Wifi network... This is what I do when I need to pair my Versa 3 with my phone via Bluetooth.
Turn on both Bluetooth and location on the phone. Open the phone Fitbit app and go to account>Versa3>general>notifications. You might need to enable all settings.

I meant you might need to enable all permissions. I recently needed to pair my Versa 3 with my S10 again and more permissions were required.
