Connecting when I go for a run

Hi I have a Versa lite and an I phone Xs 

when going for a run I start the run on the watch and 9 out of 10 times it does not connect. Once in 7 months it has started by itself and I love the information and detail it shows but normally it does not work. I am trying to select run then waiting to connect before starting play and pressing play then watching to see it fail to connect. Very frustrating any help appreciated

Is your app up to date? What location services permission have you given to the FitBit app? 

Before going on a run/walk, I'd recommend turning the GPS permission on Always and open the app in the background.

What phone do you have @Quackquack does you Fitbit app run in the background?

My fix that always works is to restart the android phone. GPS connects long before the phone is ready to use.

Thanks for the response all location services are on and I have fit bit app open in the background but 

Top left keeps showing green rectangle saying connecting but does not buzz and connect.  So I don’t have the picture of the run and all the info, yet is gives me min/km for each km.

I tried phone off and on, made no difference.  Have had the app on and off in the background and checked all gps and location services are on.

Is your app up to date?

Maybe try uninstalling the app and then reinstalling it?

Try restarting the phone, also make sure that the Fitbit app is running in the background.

Thank you everyone it worked first time this morning.

fitbit was updated yesterday tried phone on and off and checked settings and had app on in the background.

finished couch to 5 k this morning.  It was great to have all the stats.
