Constant prompt to let Fitbit unpair your device from Versa 2

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Just started happening the last few days. POPUP - Let Fitbit Unpair your Device From VERSA2 - YES or NO.. I learn to reply NO and it syncs. Yes causes a lot of issues and repairing of the Versa. Happens every few minutes on a Windows 10 laptop. Been using the Dashboard for the last 7 years and this Versa2 for the last year with no problems. Thinking somethings wrong with the Versa2.

I did hours of Problem Determination, did a Factory install, call support, pair several times.

Only way to update the Dashboard is to reply NO to the continuous POPUP.

HELP!!!

Hi @Harry. It's great to see you here in the forums.

Thanks for letting me know about the constant prompt displayed on your laptop, as well for every step tried on your own. To work on this together, may I know if you've received that message on any other device, such as an Android or Apple phone? While the Fitbit app is compatible to Windows 10, let me share that the Versa 2 was optimized to work with Android and Apple devices to ensure its connectivity and the performance of its features. You can find this information the user manual, as well this help article under Troubleshooting steps for all Fitbit devices

I understand you've used your watch for more than a year, however if you're just using your laptop to sync your data, that might be the reason why you're getting that message. My best advice is to try using a compatible Android or Apple device so your watch can stay connected with the Fitbit app and its features can continue working correctly.

This is hugely disappointing.  I have been a fitbit user for many years.  I recently upgraded to the Versa 2 in order to be able to see the screen when I am outside running.  I can't believe the device does not work well with Windows 10.  I would have appreciated knowing this before I bought a new fitbit.  I guess I will be returning it.  Too much hassle.

Hi @g024272. Welcome to the Community Forums.

Except that to load any music onto a Versa 2, you must do it through the desktop app, you cannot do it on an Apple or Android device, from what I can tell. It always says to go to a computer. Then, when you try to sync to a computer, you get the "Allow Fitbit to unpair your device?" prompt and cannot sync it to load music. Then you say, "Well, it's made to work with Apple and Android." Then why in the heck can't I load music through an Apple or Android Device? This is lame.

Hi @Ronuco. Welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts about this situation. As mentioned above, the Versa 2 was optimized to work with an Android phone, iPhone, or iPad so you can be able to sync your data, update the firmware and use its features. On the other hand, the Fitbit Connect for Windows 10 will allow you to transfer music to your watch via Wi-Fi, that's why a syncing process isn't necessary. If you're having difficulties with this process, please give a try to the suggestions described in this help article.

I'm sorry for this inconvenience and your feedback is truly appreciated. Our team constantly works improve the Fitbit experience with our products and services, and your comments won't be taken for granted.

I don't remember seeing anything that stated that I had to use a phone app to sync when I bought the versa 2. I dont even have a cell phone. Just checking here as I am having that annoying "unpair" message again on my Win10 desktop that wont go away with reboot the Versa 2, turning bluetooth off and on, re-pairing from the system dialog to add the Versa 2 etc. Too late now for me to return my watch ... anything else I can try?

@MissRed609 It's nice to see you around.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts about this situation. Let me explain that the requirements to setup and sync your Versa 2 are described in the user manual, this help article under Troubleshooting steps for all Fitbit devices, as well in our compatible devices page. My best advice is to borrow a compatible mobile device from a friend or relative so you can sync your Versa 2. Once your data has synced, you can use your Windows 10 app to see your data and the progress toward your goals. I'm sorry for this inconvenience. Our team strives to improve our products and services, and I'm sure your comments won't go unnoticed.

As bad as the Windows 10 app is, the Android app is super buggy.  At least I have s shot at getting a sync on the Win 10 app if I answer "No" to the request to unpair.  On the Android app I have to wait hours or not at all.

This conversation thread has been going on for two years now. My Versa 2 has been working fine with both my Android phone and my Windows 10 and then Windows 11. Versa 2 just crashed so I replaced with a Versa 3, and now am getting this prompt that Fitbit wants to unpair with my device when I open app on my PC (I respond 'No'). I then go to the Android app and although the device syncs, it keeps telling me it's not connecting. It also tells me that there is an install that keeps failing (clock face I think). I've had this less than 24 hours and it has more bugs than any of my previous Fitbit devices...

Am I to understand that I must unpair from the laptop in order for it to connect to the Android phone?? I certainly hope not!
